Police sealed off several blocks in Denver this morning as they negotiated the surrender of a suspect in a robbery case.
Police were called at about 3:50 a.m. to 3236 Pontiac St. and arrested a man there, said John White, a Denver police spokesman.
After the man was taken into custody he told police about a suspect in a robbery who was at the address.
When police went back to the home the people inside — eight adults and two children — didn’t answer, White said.
Police eventually began negotiating with the people inside and the robbery suspect was taken into custody at about 6:45 a.m., White said.
White said people in the home were being interviewed by police to see if they were being held against their will.
Police took extra precautions, including sealing off the blocks around the home, because they were especially concerned about the children.
White did not know whether any weapons, drugs, or stolen items were found in the home.
The house had not been under surveillance, he said.
White did not know why police were initially called to the home and arrested the first man, he said.
