GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Mesa County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man accused of waiting too long to register as a sex offender in Colorado.
Authorities say 54-year-old Kirby Johnson was arrested Friday on a warrant from Wyoming, where he is accused of failing to deregister as a sex offender and failing to tell authorities there that he was moving.
Sheriff’s officials say he was arrested in Mesa County after trying to register as a sex offender in Colorado. They say he was arrested because he did not register within five days of moving to the county.
He was being held on $10,000 bond.
