A former teacher at a private Denver preparatory school has been accused of sexually assaulting a student, a TV station reported Monday night.

Meredith Hollen, 40, is scheduled to appear in court Friday, according to the report, facing two counts of sex assault on a child and one count of sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.

The parties involved in the alleged incident taught at or attended Graland Country Day School, a prep school for kindergarten through ninth grade in the Hilltop neighborhood.

According to its website, Graland was started in 1924 and has been at its present location near East First Avenue and Bellaire Street since 1928.

The school has a 7-acre campus and a total enrollment of 638 students. The website lists tuition as running from $15,070 to $16,680 per year.

Denver police told KUSA-TV that Hollen has not been teaching at the school this year and that the alleged assault happened before this school year.

Police said they were only recently notified of the allegation.

Police did not tell the station what grade the victim was in at the time of the alleged incident. They said he is no longer a student.

Hollen was arrested Nov. 2 and was released after posting a $50,000 bond, the television station reported.

Parents told the station they were notified of the allegations in a recent newsletter sent home to parents.

In a statement released to the television station, school officials said:

“We are surprised and saddened by the allegations of impropriety involving a former Graland faculty member. The school has not been contacted by any law enforcement agency. We will cooperate in any investigation. The safety of our students continues to be our first concern.”
