MVP: Moss or Brady? What: Randy Moss vs. New England Patriots teammate Tom Brady in the NFL MVP award race.

Background: The Patriots are going to dominate the end-of-the-season awards as they make their final push to go undefeated. At 10-0, there is no shortage of star performances this year in New England, starting with Brady, the quarterback, and Moss, the receiver. Brady has thrown for 38 touchdowns and is on pace to set the single-season touchdown mark and to shatter Peyton Manning’s 2004 record of 49 touchdown passes. Moss has 66 catches and 16 touchdown catches. Jerry Rice’s record of 22 TD receptions in 1987 is in danger.

Williamson’s take: It’s a quandary. Both players are having special seasons. Neither Brady nor Moss would be having the season they are enjoying without the other. But this has to be Brady’s baby. He rarely makes a mistake and uses his weapons beautifully. What makes Brady’s season so special is his completion percentage and interception numbers. He has completed about three-quarters of his passes and has thrown just four interceptions in 338 attempts. Moss may have shown he’s a Hall of Famer again in his first season in New England, but his quarterback is the MVP.
