Eleven people were transported to area hospitals after an accident at a business office at 345 Inverness Drive South in the Denver Tech Center, officials said this afternoon.
Becky O’Guin, spokesperson for the Parker Fire Department, said that the incident, reported at 12:41 p.m., occurred when a two-part epoxy was being mixed.
The epoxy began to give off heat, she said, and someone applied water to the epoxy, which produced “potentially dangerous” vapors.
“Most of those transported were complaining of upper-respiratory problems,” O’Guin said.
She said that all those affected were able to walk to nearby ambulances.
The two-story office building was evacuated, but by 1:45 p.m., workers were allowed to return.
O’Guin said the ambulances most likely went to Skyridge Medical Center and Parker Adventist Hospital.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department and South Metro Fire Rescue also responded to the incident, said O’Guin.
