FORT COLLINS — Stuart Creason had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead Colorado State to a 73-48 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday night.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-4) trailed 28-24 at halftime but shot just 24 percent from the field in the second half while the Rams (3-2) shot 44 percent.
Colorado State raced to a 10-2 lead and never trailed.
Larry Williams led Arkansas-Pine Bluff with 14 points.
Women
Colorado 69, Northern Colo. 60 BOULDER — Jackie McFarland scored the first seven points of the second half to give Colorado a 44-31 lead, and the Buffs (3-2) made enough shots to hold off the Bears, who cut the lead to six points with less than three minutes to play.
McFarland led all scorers with 26 points and also had eight rebounds. Susie Powers added 12 points.
Whitley Cox led Northern Colorado with 21 points.
Denver 68, Colorado State 52 Senior Sara Benham had her first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the host Pioneers to the nonconference win.
DU committed five turnovers at the beginning of the second half, helping CSU (1-6) to a 12-0 run and a 34-33 lead. DU got defensive, getting a steal from Benham and another from Jenna Cole that set up Brooke Meyer’s 3-pointer to give the Pioneers a four-point lead.
Britney Minor and Sara Hunter each had 13 points for the Rams.
