CASTLE ROCK, Colo.—Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man for allegedly telling security guards at the Douglas County Courthouse that his cell phone was a bomb.

The sheriff’s office says 18-year-old Jordan Wells of Highlands Ranch made the claim about a bomb at the courthouse in Castle Rock on Thursday.

The phone was taken outside to a grassy area and traffic was rerouted until bomb technicians X-rayed the device and determined it had no explosives in it.

Deputies say they searched Wells’ car and found drug paraphernalia, alcohol and illegal fireworks.

Wells has been arrested on charges of false reporting of explosives, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of fireworks.
