A Colorado man is one of two homicide victims in a crime spree in Alaska.
Jason Wenger, 27, of Colorado was shot to death Sunday, said Paul Honeman, Anchorage police spokesman.
Wenger was attending the University of Alaska Anchorage.
He said Christopher Erin Rogers Jr., 28, has been arrested for investigation of fatally hacking his father, Christopher Rogers, to death Sunday and then shooting Wegner.
Rogers Jr. is also accused of injuring three other people in a rampage that ended Monday after he shot another man, stole his car and led police on a high-speed chase, Honeman said.
Rogers, who was on parole for a felony drunken driving conviction, told officers he was angry at his father and his father’s girlfriend, and once he killed one person it didn’t matter if he killed anyone else, he said.
He also allegedly slashed his father’s girlfriend in a home in Palmer, which is about 50 miles north of Anchorage, at about 5:30 a.m., Honeman said.
Rogers Jr. also allegedly shot a jogger and another man during a shooting spree in Anchorage, police say.
“We charged him with the whole shebang,” he said. “It’s very bizarre.”
