BILLINGS, Mont.—A 400-mile endurance race that one blogger called “the sufferfest” will be held in Montana next year.

Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado and Arizona also competed to land the fifth Primal Quest race, which typically involves such elements as running, biking, swimming, kayaking and mountain climbing.

This year’s event will run from June 21 to July 2. It will be based at the Big Sky Resort, south of Bozeman. So far, 70 co-ed teams of four racers representing 17 countries have registered and there is a waiting list of 150.

The race entry fee is $12,500 and the event pays more than $100,000 in cash and prizes to the winning teams.
