A woman was rescued after falling through ice into a pond this morning by the Arvada Fire Department.

Two people were out on the ice trying to pull the 21-year-old woman out of the pond when fire crews arrived at Prospect Park in Wheat Ridge at about 11:30 a.m., according to a press release.

The woman was taken to Lutheran Medical Center for treatment for her hypothermic condition.

The two people who attempted to rescue the girl did not fall through the ice, the release said. One was released at the scene by paramedics, and the other was taken to the hospital as well.

Frozen ponds are unstable and should be avoided, the release said.
