A man who died after he was assaulted at a Breckenridge restaurant had a heart attack, police said today.
Thomas Guidry, 35, of Breckenridge was jumped early Monday after reportedly being verbally abusive to a female customer at the Salt Creek Steakhouse bar.
An employee of the restaurant escorted Guidry from the bar on the second floor to the steakhouse below. He was attacked in the foyer by two men who followed him downstairs from the bar.
The three scuffled, and Guidry fell. He was declared dead after being transported to Summit County Medical Center.
An autopsy at the Jefferson County coroner’s office in Golden found that he wasn’t killed in the fight.
“It was determined that no life-threatening injuries caused Mr. Guidry’s death. Instead, he had acute heart failure due to underlying pre-existing heart disease,” Breckenridge police said today in a release.
Police are continuing to investigate the matter and are looking for four individuals who were in the bar, two of whom assaulted Guidry.
The four were caught on videotape.
The two involved in the altercation with Guidry are described as white men in their early 20s. One wore a camouflage type coat, and the other wore a white coat and white baseball cap.
A white man with facial hair and a white woman also were with the suspects.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Susan Quesada at 970-547-3137 or Summit County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-453-STOP.
