United Airlines has rescinded its $50 round-trip fuel surcharge, which failed to spread among most of its competitors.

The fuel surcharge is now $20 round-trip on most of the routes United flies, according to United spokeswoman Robin Urbanski. That’s in line with most other major airlines’ fuel surcharges, according to chief executive Rick Seaney.

United rescinded the increase “to keep competitive with other airlines,” Urbanski said.
