Getting your player ready...

A stream of players continues to avoid an arbitration hearing, with Minnesota Twins former MVP Justin Morneau headlining this morning’s signings.

Morneau, a slugging first baseman, agreed to a one-year, $7.4 million deal. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays surprise star last year, Carlos Pena, signed a one-year, $6 million deal. The Devil Rays have discussed a long-term deal with the first baseman after his breakout season.

The Rockies have yet to sign any of their five arbitration-eligible players. If a deal isn’t struck by 10 a.m. today, the Rockies and the players’ agents must submit contract figures and wait for a hearing date in February to be assigned. The sides can still reach an agreement any time before a hearing.

Others who have signed in the last few hours with contracts obtained by The Denver Post include:

  •  Royals pitcher Jimmy Gobble (one-year, $1.312 million).
  •  Dodgers outfielder Jason Repko ($487,500 on a one-year deal).
