GOLDEN — A Westminster man pleaded guilty today to leaving the scene of a July accident that killed an 8-year-old go-kart rider.
Sean Christopher Daniels, 31, faces up to six years in prison and up to a year in jail when he is sentenced on March 28 in Jefferson County District Court.
Guilty pleas were entered on two felonies — leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with physical evidence — and two traffic offenses — leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.
Daniels was arrested at a Steamboat Springs-area campsite about a week after he hit the go-kart from behind and fled.
Quinton Von Duyke was killed in the accident. He was riding in the go-kart driven by his brother, Kaeden, 10, on West 96th Avenue near Pierce Street. Kaeden was thrown clear, but Quinton, who was wearing a seat belt, was killed.
