Highlights from the Legislature on Friday.
— The Senate Appropriations Committee delayed a vote on whether to give an extra $16 million to community colleges and $3 million to Colorado State University-Pueblo after hearing from other schools who oppose the proposal (Senate Bill 85).
— The Senate gave initial backing to a proposal (Senate Bill 77) to make it a misdemeanor to trick online ticket sale sites into selling more than the maximum number of tickets allowed. The measure was proposed partly in response to the problems the Colorado Rockies had with their online World Series ticket sales.
— The House tentatively approved a bill (House Bill 1148) that would set a higher standard for the state’s adverse possession that allows someone to claim another person’s property if they have had access to that property for at least 18 years. The bill was introduced after a Boulder couple lost part of their property to a neighbor based on claims they weren’t using the property and the neighbor was using it. The bill faces a third reading before it goes to the Senate.
— The House approved and sent to the Senate a measure (House Bill 1196) that would require an authentic member of the original recording group to appear in any live concert using the group’s name. It would allow a $15,000 fine for each violation. The bill faces a third reading before it goes to the Senate.
