ASPEN, Colo.—Aspen police have two suspects in jail and are completing paperwork in the case of car break-ins.

Soon, they’ll turn to the Internet to help dispose of garbage bags bulging with stolen property.

The seized items include skis, jewelry, purses, iPods and jackets. After returning what they can to rightful owners, the officers will sell the rest on an Internet auction site.

Police evidence custodian Michele McClinton says the site keeps some profit, but the department makes more money than it ever did at traditional auctions.

Meanwhile, 34-year-old Jeremy Wayne Nichols is being held in Denver on auto theft charges. His alleged accomplice, 24-year-old Leslie Christine Castle, is being held in Aspen on a $15,000 bond on felony theft charges.
