Roadwork on Interstate 70 today will cause delays and detours in Denver and in the mountains near Idaho Springs.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, just east of Idaho Springs, work on a retaining wall near the Twin Tunnels will close the left lane of eastbound I-70, the Colorado Department of Transportation said in a press release. Drivers should expect slow traffic through the area.

In Denver at 11 p.m. today, all lanes of westbound I-70 will be closed at Monaco Street for overhead sign work, CDOT said.

During the closure, a detour will take motorists off the highway at Monaco (exit 277), west on Stapleton Drive North (the north side of the frontage road), and back to westbound I-70. Delays are possible, and alternate routes are advised.

The highway is expected to reopen at 5 a.m. Friday.
