BOULDER, Colo.—Anna Prins scored 16 points and Mariah Metoyer added 15 as defending Class 4A state champion Broomfield cruised to a 69-32 win Wednesday in the semifinals at the University of Colorado Coors Events Center.

Top-seeded Broomfield (26-1), which trailed in the game only once, 2-0, will try to win its second straight state title Friday against Northern League rival Silver Creek from Longmont.

The Eagles led 13-6 after the first quarter, 34-12 at halftime and 57-19 at the end of the third quarter.

Golden (22-5), also a No. 1 seed, struggled to find its shot, converting only three of 26 attempts from the field in the first half. The Demons, which lost for the first time in 18 games, shot just 21 percent in the game.

At 6-6, Prins towered over Golden’s defenders, scoring 14 points in the first half alone. Her playing time was limited in the second half as the skillful and physical Broomfield built its impressive lead.

Metoyer, on the other hand, scored most of her points in the second half, posting 12 with the game out of reach.

Chaundra Sewell had 12 points and 13 rebounds for Broomfield, which is 52-2 since the beginning of the 2006-07 season.

Cassie Lambrecht led Golden with 16 points.

Broomfield, which suffered its only loss of the year to Silver Creek but still leads the teams’ season series 2-1, have won their four playoff games this year by an average of 37 points.

The Class 4A championship begins at 6 p.m. Friday at CU.
