COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Harvard forward Sarah Vaillancourt, Mercyhurst forward Meghan Agosta and Minnesota Duluth goalie Kim Martin are the finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Award as the top player in NCAA Division I women’s hockey.
The USA Hockey Foundation announced the finalists Wednesday. The winner will be announced at the Women’s Frozen Four on March 21 in Duluth, Minn.
Vaillancourt, a junior from Sherbrooke, Quebec, has 24 goals and 34 assists in 32 games this season. Agosta, a sophomore from Ruthven, Ontario, also was a finalist last season as freshman. She has 39 goals and 24 assists in 32 games this season.
Martin, a sophomore from Sweden, led Minnesota Duluth to a 24-4-1 regular-season record and its first WCHA regular-season championship since 2003. She was 28-4-1 with a 1.39 goals-against average during the regular season.
Agosta and Vaillancourt are teammates on Canada’s national team that will attempt to defend its world title next month in China. Martin is Sweden’s national team goalie.
Harvard’s Julie Chu won the 2007 award.
