PUEBLO, Colo.—Keith Pocock sank three free throws in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter as No. 8 seeded Sedgwick County pulled out a 60-55 win over No. 5 seed Calhan Friday night in the boys Class 2A semifinal.
Sedgwick County (20-5) advanced to the championship game in only its second year in existence as a co-op for students at Julesburg and Revere high schools in northeastern Colorado. They’ll play for the championship against the winner of the Sanford/Paonia semifinal.
“In the final two minutes we just wanted to break their press and get some good shots,” said the 6-foot-4 Pocock, who made 3-of-4 free throws and scored five points in just over a minute. “I was able to get some rebounds and make my free throws and this was just a great win for us.”
Calhan finished the season at (20-5).
