A fast-moving storm bringing significant moisture will enter the state today, and a winter storm watch is expected for the Denver metro area tonight.
The storm will likely drop between 5 and 10 inches of snow in the foothills, southern metro area and on the Eastern Plains, according to the National Weather Service.
The storm will drop the heaviest snow Monday morning, just as commuters head for work but also will clear out quickly, with highs expected to reach the 50s again by Tuesday, said National Weather Service meteorologist Carl Burroughs.
Denver itself is likely to see less snow — between 2 and 5 inches — and the snowfall will turn to rain by the time it reaches the state’s eastern border.
