BOULDER, Colo.—Authorities say a wildfire burning on grassland west of Boulder that scorched two acres has been contained.
Fire officials say they believe the fire that started in Settler’s Park Sunday afternoon was human caused but not intentional. Up to 120 firefighters were working on the blaze and a single engine air tanker flew in from Fort Collins to help.
Boulder Fire spokeswoman Jodie Carroll says the fire is 100 percent contained.
Boulder dispatchers at one point warned residents about the fire via reverse-911 calls but there was no mandatory evacuation order. Officials say more than 1,300 homes are within a half mile from where the fire burned.
Bystanders say the smoke filled the far end of the city, near the west end of Pearl Street. Authorities say the fire spread west after it started in Settler’s Park.
