The University of Denver women’s tennis team rallied from a 3-0 deficit and defeated three-time defending champion Florida International 4-3 on Sunday to win the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Monroe, La.

The Pioneers (22-2), who also won the Sun Belt title in 2004, earned the Sun Belt’s automatic bid to the May 10-12 NCAA regionals.

CU recruit picks Indiana.

Junior college guard Devan Dumes, a sophomore at Vincennes (Ind.) University, signed with Indiana and new Hoosiers coach Tom Crean. An Indianapolis native, Dumes recently made an official visit to Colorado. Tom Kensler, The Denver Post

Buffs seeded fourth in Big 12 tennis.

With a 6-1 victory over Oklahoma State, the Colorado women’s tennis team clinched the fourth seed at the Big 12 Championship, which begins Thursday in College Station, Texas.

DU men Sun Belt runners-up.

The DU men’s tennis team entered the Sun Belt Championship as the No. 1 seed but fell to No. 2 South Alabama 4-2. It was the 18th championship title for South Alabama.
