A woman who apparently fell asleep at the wheel clipped a Colorado Department of Transportation worker on Interstate 70 just west of Frisco this morning, the state patrol said in a news release.

Officials say the driver, Ashley Webb, 18, Grand Junction, was westbound on I-70 just before 7 a.m. today.

The CDOT, Rick Lee, 42, of Georgetown was in the median repairing the cable barrier when Webb’s 1996 Honda Accord ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected and drove into the worker.

Lee tried to jump over the cable barrier to get out of the way, the Colorado State Patrol said in the release, but the car hit one of his legs.

He was taken to Summit Medical Center in Breckenridge.

Webb was charged with careless driving causing bodily injury, the CSP said.
