A lightning bolt struck a tree in a Littleton back yard thismorning and ignited a gas line, authorities say.

The lightning strike happened at about 5:55 a.m. at 5490 W. Hinsdale Ave., according to a dispatcher.

Xcel Energy officials cut off gas to the home, which was the only home affected by the fire, said Ethnie Groves, Xcel spokeswoman.
