NEW ORLEANS—A 45-year-old Kenner woman won the $34 million Powerball jackpot from Saturday’s drawing, the Louisiana Lottery Corp. said Tuesday.
Emilia M. Delgado, a neonatal intensive care nurse, took the cash option, worth $16.1 million before taxes. With her winnings, she said she plans to help her family.
Delgado’s win marked the third Powerball jackpot win in Louisiana in the last eight months.
Powerball was created in 1992 and launched in Colorado in 2001.
The game is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
