Firefighters say a fire that broke out in grass and scrub oak near Cheyenne Mountain may have been started by lightning.
Colorado Springs Fire Lt. Brian Keys says the 5-acre fire Friday likely was sparked by a lightning strike Thursday that smoldered. He says there’s no evidence of suspicious activity.
The fire came within about 300 yards of homes, but firefighters say it did not move aggressively.
