Rescuers suspended the search Monday evening for a Nebraska woman thrown off her horse into the fast-moving waters of Beaver Creek in Eagle County Friday.
Mary Brake, 56, a prominent Lincoln Realtor, was riding with her husband, Gene Brake, CEO of HomeServices of Nebraska, and 9-year-old daughter when her horse lost its footing in the swift water.
Eagle County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly said rescuers assume she is no longer alive.
Rescuers from 16 agencies searched for more than three days along a 3.5-mile stretch downstream.
“We are at a point now where we have exhausted every option available for whitewater rescue with no results and have to wait until the conditions of the water change,” said a statement from Vail Mountain Rescue coordinator and incident commander Dan Smith.
