LONGMONT — A 49-year-old Longmont Theatre Company actor was arrested Friday for investigation of using his position to molest a 13-year-old girl, authorities say.
John Anderson, who performed in the theater’s April production of “Fiddler on the Roof,” is suspected of sexually assaulting the girl several times, said Cmdr. Tim Lewis, Longmont police spokesman.
“A 49-year-old man targeting a 13-year-old girl is extremely wrong,” Lewis said. “There is just no excuse for this.”
The parents of the girl discovered several graphic e-mails between their daughter and Anderson, he said.
The girl has cooperated with detectives, Lewis said. Anderson has not been cooperative, he added.
Anderson was taken to the Longmont police station and will later be transferred to the Boulder County Jail on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust, Lewis said.
