COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—The man and woman found dead in a Commerce City home are being identified as a Lakewood police officer and his wife, a former officer.
Commerce City Sgt. Joe Sandoval says 36-year-old William O’Shell and 25-year-old Tiffany O’Shell died from apparent gunshot wounds in what appeared to be a murder-suicide.
Officers went to the couple’s home about 6 p.m. Monday after a relative called police for a welfare check at the home.
Lakewood Police Chief Kevin Paletta issued a statement Tuesday saying the department is “deeply saddened by the tragic deaths.”
Commerce City police say William O’Shell was the focus of an investigation for allegations of child abuse involving the couple’s 3-month-old daughter.
Sandoval says the girl had suffered serious injuries.
