Northglenn police arrested a suspected drunken driver who allegedly drove a pickup truck into a 55-year-old man in a crosswalk Wednesday night, authorities say.

Neal Eke of Northglenn was taken to Denver Health Medical Center after the 8:27 p.m. accident at Highline and Malley drives and pronounced dead, according to Cmdr. Steve Sanders of the Northglenn Police Department.

Joel Smith, 24, of Thornton has been arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide, drunken driving and failure to yield to a pedestrian, Sanders said.

Smith has been booked into the Adams County Jail.
