GREELEY, Colo.—Mayor Ed Clark has taken a leave of absence from his job with the Weld County District Attorney’s Office since a run-in with a 15-year-old boy.
Weld District Attorney Ken Buck said Clark hasn’t been back to work as a special investigator for his office since June 23, when Clark was accused of throwing the boy to the ground.
Remington Stitt said he was riding his motorbike that day when Clark picked him up and slammed him to the ground after Stitt refused to get off the bike. Police ticketed Stitt for driving a motor vehicle without a license and for operating an off-road vehicle on the street.
Afterward, Stitt and his father were awarded a restraining order against Clark.
Stitt’s father has said Stitt and Clark had been at odds for weeks after his son had a dispute with the mayor’s wife. A hearing to determine if the restraining order should be made permanent was continued until July 28.
Clark is on leave while the Larimer County district attorney’s office investigates whether criminal charges should be filed.
Clark said he decided to go on leave from the Weld County DA’s office after speaking with Buck.
