Own a piece of Red Rocks
Now through 5 p.m. Saturday, the city and county of Denver is auctioning 28 pieces of original, old-growth redwood benches from Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which were installed when the venue opened in 1941. The benches are being replaced with a Brazilian lumber called ipe, which is pest- and fire-resistant. In addition to the reusable old wood, the city’s online surplus auction site, which operates somewhat like eBay, is selling iPods, digital cameras, camcorders, Bose headphones, portable DVD players, a Nintendo DS and Sony Playstations.
