A house in West Denver was heavily damaged by fire this afternoon but nobody was injured.
Denver firefighters received several 911 calls about 3:53 p.m. When they arrived at the home on West Ellsworth Avenue they saw heavy smoke and flames pouring out of the second floor and attic, authorities said.
It took 26 firefighters to fight the blaze because firefighters had to climb and cut their way through the older home’s second story ceiling and into the attic.
The fire may been caused by a heat gun that was left unattended and was being used by the homeowner for repairs, said Denver Fire Department spokesman Lt. Phil Champagne.
The homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation outside his home and did not require hospitalization, officials said.
