Colorado State University police are releasing more information about the shooting death of a 27-year-old Fort Collins resident and former student at the school.

Matthew Quitmeyer’s body was found in the parking lot of Summit Hall, a residence hall, on Friday night.

Quitmeyer, who was not a current CSU student, lived in an apartment building adjacent to the lot. He attended Front Range Community College from 2000 to 2005 nd completed a semester at CSU in the Spring of 2007,where he studied language, literature and culture.

Quitmeyer did not have identification on him at the time his body was discovered.

The Larimer County Coroner’s office confirmed his identity and ruled his death a homicide late Saturday.

He didn’t have a criminal record, according to CSU police.

CSUPD is asking anyone with information that may be helpful to this case to contact them at 970-491-6425.

“CSU Police cannot release additional facts of this ongoing investigation at this point, but believe this was an isolated incident,” according to a release.

Fort Collins Police Services are assisting CUSPED in the investigation.
