ATLANTA — The Angels acquired slugger Mark Teixeira from the Braves on Tuesday in exchange for first baseman Casey Kotchman and minor-league pitcher Steve Marek.

Teixeira, a first baseman hitting .283 with 20 home runs and 78 RBIs, has hit at least 26 home runs in every season since making his big-league debut in 2003.

Kotchman is hitting .287 with 12 homers and 54 RBIs, while Marek, a right-hander, was 2-6 with three saves and a 3.66 ERA at Double-A Arkansas.

Rangers third baseman Hank Blalock was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. The Rangers called up infielder Ryan Roberts from Triple-A Oklahoma.
