BEIJING — Boulder’s Taylor Phinney was defeated by Hayden Rouston of New Zealand in the 4000-meter individual pursuit Saturday at the Laoshan Velodrome.
Rouston’s time was 4:19.232, while Phinney finished in 4:25.544. The loss eliminated Phinney, 18, from the Olympic cycling competition.
