When Dustin Lee Chady showed up late for his court-ordered drunken-driving meeting at a funeral home in Colorado Springs on Monday night, he got mad. Ultimately he landed in the El Paso County Jail on his birthday.

Chady is accused of punching a police officer, who came after witnesses reported Chady raising a ruckus to get in the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers meeting at The Springs Funeral Services on East Platte Avenue.

According to court records, Chady turned 25 on Monday. He showed up at 7:36 p.m. and tried to force his way into a meeting that started at 7, according to Colorado Springs police.

When Officer J.D. Walter grabbed his arm, Chady threw a few wild punches at him, but Walker “subdued” the 140-pounder, according to police records. Both were checked out for minor injuries at a local hospital,

Chady remained in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on Tuesday under a $10,000 bond on suspicion of second-degree assault on a peace officer.
