PONCHA SPRINGS — State transportation officials say mudslides have closed a three-mile stretch of U.S. 285 on Poncha Pass.

Radio station KVRH in Salida says firefighters on scene tonight reported that one slide was the width of the highway, 50 feet long and about 2 feet deep.

KVRH says early reports were that some vehicles may have been stuck between slides, but Chaffee County sheriff’s dispatchers say no injuries were immediately reported after the road closure.
