COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Colorado Springs church says it was working to reunite a homeless man with his daughter in Texas when he was found dead after a fight.

Police were awaiting confirmation of the man’s name. The Gazette newspaper reported Wednesday that friends knew him as Frosty.

Police say he was found dead on Monday amid “obvious signs” he had been in a fight.

Officers arrested 48-year-old Matthew Rowland on suspicion of murder. Jail officials say they don’t know if he has an attorney.

Everett Griggs of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church says the victim had sought the church’s help last month after he was assaulted.

Griggs says the church planned to buy him a bus ticket to join his daughter once his identity was confirmed and the daughter was located.
