The group pushing a higher- stakes gambling ballot initiative raised $976,000 during the latest reporting period from July 31 to Aug. 27.
The group, called Coloradans for Community Colleges, has raised $6.1 million to support the industry-backed measure, which would allow Black Hawk, Central City and Cripple Creek to hold local elections to raise the casino betting limit from $5 to $100, add games and extend operating hours. A portion of the revenue would go toward the state’s community colleges.
