Getting your player ready...

Despite listing 14 players on its injury report, Denver is “relatively healthy” going into its home opener Sunday against San Diego, coach Mike Shanahan said today.

Only reserve linebacker Louis Green (hamstring), center Tom Nalen (knee) and running back Ryan Torain (elbow) will not play against the Chargers, and none of the injuries to those players are new.

None of the other 11 players on the report were limited in practice this week.

Shanahan said coaches will decide Sunday whether Boss Bailey will make his first start at strong side linebacker. Bailey suffered a high ankle sprain in the first quarter of the preseason opener, and Jamie Winborn started two preseason games and the opener against Oakland in his place.

“I’m definitely going to be on the field this week,” Bailey said. “Without a doubt.”

Said Shanahan: “We’ll get a feel for Boss in pregame warm-ups. Hopefully there’s no setback for Boss and we’ll kind of make the decision at game time how much each one will play.”
