What a card!
How does a foothills garden grow? Quite abundantly, thanks, and Jody Neumann’s got the photos to prove it. She sells greeting cards that show off her dad’s explosively colorful nasturtiums blooming like fireworks against a cool mountain backdrop, a yellow squash blossom peeking like a surprise from the vine, black sunflowers nod sleepily. Also on offer: fall, winter and wildlife scenes.

Viva la Independencia!
The cheerful, dulcet songs of veteran Grupo Innovacion de Durango (Mexico) are a terrific example of grupero — bright brass, thrumming electric guitar and bouncy accordion. Along with Colorado musician Anhelo Norteño and 10 other bands, they’ll provide the soundtrack to Weld County’s inaugural El Grito fiesta. Admission is $10; children 12 and younger are free.
