SAN LUIS, Colo.—A San Luis man has been arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting his son during an argument over money.
Bonafacio Lobato was arrested Wednesday for investigation of first-degree murder in the death of his 20-year-old son, Dominic.
The Costilla County Sheriff’s Department says Dominic Lobato was shot at his father’s home Tuesday and died at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center.
The shooting was first reported as an accident, but Chief Deputy District Attorney Larry Orr says the investigation found “evidence of premeditation.”
Sheriff’s Sgt. James Chavez says five shots were fired and one hit Dominic Lobato.
The 40-year-old Bonafacio Lobato is being held without bail in the Costilla County jail.
