A tractor-trailer hit and killed an 89-year-old man standing alongside his pickup Wednesday afternoon on the shoulder of Interstate 70 in Arapahoe County.
John S. McNichol, of Strasburg, was declared dead at the scene, said Colorado State Patrol Trooper David Hall.
McNichol was standing on the right shoulder between the eastbound lanes and an older, green Ford pickup when he was hit, Hall said.
Truck driver Jose Lona, 24, of Phoenix wasn’t injured.
The incident is under investigation. The Denver Post
