OMAHA, Neb.—Catholic Health Initiatives is donating $6 million to Mercy Housing for its housing programs in Omaha and Lincoln, Neb., and Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The money will help pay for capital improvements and underwrite other programs.

Mercy Housing, founded in Omaha by the Sisters of Mercy, provides affordable homes to low-income families, senior citizens and people with special needs.

Catholic Health Initiatives operates four hospitals and related facilities across Nebraska.

Catholic Health Initiatives and Mercy Housing are both based in Denver. They have been partners since 1998 in increasing access to affordable housing and to health care.

The health group’s CEO says part of its mission is to help build healthy communities.
