COLORADO SPRINGS — Focus on the Family, founded by James Dobson, says it will lay off or reassign 46 employees next year when it changes the way it ships books, CDs and DVDs.
The conservative Christian ministry said this week that Christian Book Distributors of Peabody, Mass., will take over those operations, cutting distribution costs by more than half.
Focus said the move is a response to declining sales, which it attributes to competition from online retailers and big stores such as Wal-Mart.
