A Colorado fugitive wanted for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in Aurora in 2004 has been caught in North Carolina, authorities said.

Domingo Lopez-Avaloy, a 24-year-old from Honduras, was arrested Thursday at his apartment in Charlotte, according to a press release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Lopez-Avaloy is wanted in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 12-year-old at the Heatherwood Apartments, the release said.

The fugitive was arrested in February under the alias David Reyez Lopez and gave police a different date of birth, the Marshals Service said. A photograph of David Reyez Lopez matched a photograph of Lopez-Avaloy, and a fingerprint comparison confirmed Lopez-Avaloy’s identification.

He is being held at the Mecklenberg County Jail awaiting extradition to Colorado.

Three other men were arrested in the case: One remains in prison; one served a year in jail; and the other was found not guilty.

Edgardo Alvarez-Williams, 50, was convicted in the case and is serving a 25-year-to-life prison sentence with the Colorado Department of Corrections.

Gilberto Castillo Bernardez, 37, was convicted of kidnapping and sentenced to 364 days, according to Colorado Department of Public Safety Records.

Martin Garcia-Avaloy, 25, was found not guilty in the case, according to public-safety records.
