DURANGO, Colo.—A black professor at Fort Lewis College in Durango may be the victim of hate crimes.
The door to the office of political scientist Yohannes Woldemariam was set on fire Sunday, and police say that blaze was intentionally set.
In April, Woldemariam received a note with a swastika on it in his office mailbox. Now police are investigating whether the two events may be related.
Fort Lewis College faculty and staff have raised a $5,000 reward for information on the door fire. Woldemariam has a new office door that displays a peace sign and a petition condemning the violence. Students have also been donating to the reward fund.
