BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan — Emergency officials say an earthquake has killed 58 people in Kyrgyzstan.

Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Abdusamat Payazov said the quake injured 50 people and destroyed 120 buildings in a town in the Central Asian nation.

The ministry says the quake occurred late Sunday. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake’s magnitude was 6.6 and indicated the epicenter was in Kyrgyzstan.
